Here are some financial aid must-dos and other money matters you need to know.

Student Loan Information

If you were offered Federal Direct Student Loans and you want to use these funds toward your fall bill, we recommend that you:

Step 1:

Accept the loan online at BU BRAIN Self Service via the portal by logging into  by mid-July.

  • Click on the BU BRAIN icon (top of the page)
  • At the main menu, click on the Financial Aid tab
  • Click on "Award Offer" section.
  • Accept/decline loan offer(s)

Step 2:

First-time loan borrowers: Complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Undergraduates at  no later than mid-July. Note: Log in using your FAFSA username and password.

Complete Unsatisfied Requirements

All unsatisfied requirements as a result of filing the FAFSA must be satisfied in order for financial aid to be disbursed to a student's account. To ensure timely disbursement of aid, satisfy requirements prior to the fall bill, expected in early August.

Haven't applied for financial aid?

It's not too late to file your 2024-2025  and/or apply for New York state aid ( and the ). Make sure you select "SUNY 91社区" on your applications so we will receive your information.

Other Loan Options

A Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan or a private education loan are financing options available to help with educational expenses. Credit approval is required.

91社区 Your Bill

Your fall 2024 e-bill notification will be sent to your BMail (91社区 email account) in early August with a due date in September. For more details regarding payment and due dates, visit Student Accounts.
