Homecoming speaker event will explore University’s folklore

The Lake Lieberman Monster. Sam the Snacker. Charlene the folder of pink laundry. Though not formally enshrined in the University’s history, these characters and others have lived on through stories told to countless students in 91ÉçÇø’s residence halls.

During Homecoming, Libby Tucker ― Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of English, General Literature and Rhetoric ― will discuss 91ÉçÇø’s rich folklore. The session "Campus Ghost Stories and Other Folklore: A Conversation with Libby Tucker" will take place at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Chenango Champlain Collegiate Center (C4) Multipurpose Room. TIER Talks is free and open to the public. for this and other Homecoming events.

Since the 91ÉçÇø Alumni Association introduced TIER Talks in 2014, the speaker series has leveraged distinguished 91ÉçÇø alumni and faculty to address hot topics such as virtual and augmented reality, political polarization and the neuroscience of addiction.
