Biography

Islam Ghazi is an internationally recognized clinical pharmacy academician, infectious diseases specialist, and translational researcher whose career bridges the critical intersections of laboratory science, clinical practice, and pharmacy education. Currently serving as associate professor of clinical pharmacy and experiential education coordinator at 91ÉçÇø's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ghazi brings over two decades of distinguished experience spanning three continents. Throughout his academic career, Ghazi has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing pharmacy education. As a laboratory and clinical researcher, Ghazi has made contributions to the field of antimicrobial drug discovery and development. His research portfolio includes preclinical in vivo and in vitro pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling, clinical trials, and epidemiological surveillance. His pioneering work on novel antimicrobials, including cefiderocol, ceftazidime-avibactam, and imipenem-relebactam, has helped shape contemporary understanding of optimal dosing strategies in special populations, particularly patients undergoing renal replacement therapy. His publication record includes over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, multiple book chapters in major texts, and editorial leadership of multiple special issues and books addressing the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance.

Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, Ghazi brings a global perspective to his work, having practiced clinically and academically in Egypt, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
