This internship focuses on Farm Share, a VINES program that connects residents of all income levels to fresh produce from local farmers. It involves direct service in the community addressing food justice, agriculture, and community engagement. Primary responsibilities include interacting with community members to distribute local produce at the same time and place each week, providing support and education to participants, processing payment including EBT (food stamp) transactions, and tracking payment and pick-up from members. Other duties may include assisting in preparation for share distribution, assisting with share distribution by transporting via cargo van, and outreach and marketing. Candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills, interest in nutrition/health and wellness, social justice, and be an organized, detail-oriented individual capable of working independently. Intern must be available Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings. Must also have reliable transportation and the ability to lift 40lbs. Preference will be given to applicants who can intern in both the summer and fall.
