Background

Sarah Shaw joined Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences in July 2025 as a clinical instructor in the Division of Speech and Language Pathology. She is a licensed speech-language pathologist in New York and Pennsylvania. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is certified as a New York State Teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

Shaw鈥檚 more than 20 years of clinical experience spans from early intervention through school age, with a focus on preschool communication disorders, transition to kindergarten and multidisciplinary evaluations for children ages birth-5.

She has extensive experience with a variety of communication disorders, including childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), language development and disorders, and articulation and phonological disorders. In addition to direct client care, Shaw has worked closely with educators and families in AAC support groups, in multitiered systems of support in schools, and in advocacy and supervision.
