91社区, America East to expand streaming network
August 16, 2013
Together with a new America East comprehensive digital network, 91社区 athletics will provide free live video streaming of 10 sports teams and more than 80 events during the 2013-14 year. The broadcasts will be available at the University鈥檚 relaunched bubearcats.tv site, part of a wider platform at AmericaEast.TV, both of which will be powered by NeuLion. Fans will have access to a variety of the conference鈥檚 19 sports and see live action, interviews, features and highlight packages for free.
For the second straight year, 91社区 will offer live home coverage of 10 sports: men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer and volleyball in the fall, men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball and wrestling in the winter, and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 lacrosse, baseball and softball in the spring. The bubearcats.tv portal, which will be unveiled in late August, will also feature Athlete of the Week interviews, game highlights, features and coverage for BU鈥檚 entire 21-sport program.
91社区 began streaming live events in 2008 and in the school鈥檚 sixth year of video coverage, it will include several features in 2013-14. For the second straight year, the broadcasts will be shown in HD and will include a play-by-play announcer and two-camera angles.
The first broadcast of the fall will be the women鈥檚 soccer home debut on Friday, Sept. 6, from the Bearcats Sports Complex.
The America East platform, which includes revamped portals for all nine member schools, will be free of charge for all users.
鈥淭he debut of AmericaEast.TV is a significant step in expanding our brand in the digital space,鈥 America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen said. 鈥淲e are excited to be working with NeuLion on this endeavor, which will provide a high-volume of free live and on-demand content for all fans as we continue to focus on increasing the exposure of our great institutions and conference.鈥
The newly created network offers marketers an opportunity to reach targeted audiences both regionally and nationally, while enhancing the conference鈥檚 presence in the digital landscape. The league also has a television contract with ESPN that includes live event coverage of men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball, as well as the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 lacrosse championship games.
Powered by the NeuLion College Platform, AmericaEast.TV will be available to fans at the end of August with the beginning of the fall sports season, in conjunction with a redesigned AmericaEast.com. The network will feature 10 unique channels on an easy-to-navigate interface. Each of the conference鈥檚 nine member institutions will have its own school-branded channel featuring live and/or on-demand video content across a variety of conference sports, while the America East will have its own conference-wide channel featuring all available digital content and all team championship action.
