Background
William James Lawson (harpsichord, organ, voice) was one of the first graduates of the Department of Performance Studies in New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He has been active for more than four decades as a church and chamber musician, serving as organist and music director for churches in New York City, Pittsburgh and 91社区 and on the faculty of 91社区, where he has frequently performed.
Over the last several years, he has revived the Collegium Muscium concerts at 91社区, devoted to chamber music, including harpsichord and organ. He was a research associate for Trevor Pinnock's Classical Band. In 2008, he founded the Canterbury Choir to perform Anglican repertoire in liturgical settings.
He prepared C. F. G. Schwencke's quintet arrangement of Mozart's Gran Partita, K. 361, for performance by An die Musik at the Flanders Festival and in New York City, and his edition of Draeseke's Viola Sonata No. 2 has been published and recorded.
