Background

Nicole Rouhana, PhD, director of graduate nursing and assistant professor at the Decker School of Nursing at 91社区, is duly licensed and nationally certified as a family nurse practitioner and certified nurse-midwife. She brings experience developing and implementing interprofessional education experiences for students with colleagues in nursing, pharmacy, public health and social work programs.

Rouhana has cared for women and their families, both domestically and internationally, and has demonstrated her commitment to women's and children's health by providing interprofessional evidence-based care to her patients, working in rural and vulnerable populations to improve maternal outcomes.

For the last 25 years, Rouhana has initiated and developed nurse-midwifery programs, ensuring interprofessional content in both the clinical and didactic components in addition to fostering the advancement of interprofessional teams in community settings to enhance maternal-child outcomes.

Her research focuses on parents' attitudes regarding the immunization of their male children against the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

Rouhana is a Fellow in the American College of Nurse Midwives and the National Rural Health Association. She is also an appointed board member of the New York State Board of Midwifery.

Before coming to 91社区, Rouhana was director of the Midwifery and Women鈥檚 Health Nurse Practitioner program at Stony Brook University. There, she was instrumental in educating over 600 certified midwives in New York state.
