CCPA Public Administration and Policy

Background

Dr. Vincent Reitano is an associate professor in the Department of Public Administration and Policy. His research examines subnational public financial management and is published in leading journals such as the American Review of Public Administration, Contemporary Economic Policy, Journal of Government Financial Management, Public Finance and Management, Public Finance Review, and Public Budgeting & Finance. He is particularly interested in analyzing the strategic accumulation and usage of fiscal reserves for budgetary stabilization.

Reitano has also published practitioner-focused research for the Government Finance Officers Association, including research reports and Government Finance Review articles distributed to over 21,000 practitioners. He coauthored Financial Foundations for Thriving Communities, a book offering leadership strategies and institutional design principles for public finance officers.

Reitano teaches Budgeting and Financial Management (PAFF 527) and Research Design and Methods (PAFF 510). His courses emphasize evidence-based decision-making in public and nonprofit organizations. Before joining 91社区, he was a tenured faculty member at Western Michigan University, teaching MPA and PhD students. He has also worked at the Government Finance Officers Association and the Department of Defense.
