Art Museum Exhibitions

The 91ÉçÇø Art Museum offers a dynamic schedule of exhibitions that are free and open to the public. The Main Gallery and the Susan M. Reifer '65 and Stanley J. Reifer '64 Mezzanine Gallery hosts two to four temporary exhibitions per year. Other temporary exhibitions are on view downstairs in the Nancy J. Powell Gallery. Here, small gallery spaces are given over to student-curated exhibitions featuring objects from the permanent collection.

Mountains and Water: Traditions in East Asian Art

Mountains and water are at the heart of East Asian arts and culture. They form an essential framework for engaging with the natural world and understanding people’s place within it. This exhibition explores the wide-ranging significance, symbolism, and sacrality of mountains and water in China, Korea, and Japan. It considers landscapes and scholar’s stones as both scholastic objects of aesthetic consideration and supernatural sites of cosmic power. 

Generous support and donations for this exhibition provided by John C. Copoulos ’73. This exhibition is curated by Joseph Leach, curator of collections and exhibitions.

Also opening in the Nancy J. Powell Gallery are two intern-curated exhibitions: Capturing Music: Material Culture and Changing Notations in Medieval Music and Frames Within Frames: Intimacy through Visual Exchange.

A final exhibition, Hands ON! Experiencing Art through Touch, curated by Amanda Jean Lynn, Manager of Education and Visitor Experience, builds on the museum's accessible programming launched during the 2025–26 academic year.
