Hours of operation

May closure: May 15–31

East Gym will close at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 14. The building will be closed for Commencement Weekend (May 15–17) and will remain closed through May 31 for gym floor resurfacing and hot water system maintenance.

Hours of operation: June 1–July 31

Students*, faculty, staff, and retirees with valid 91ÉçÇø ID cards will have access to FitSpace, fitness classes, and open recreation from June 1–July 31.

Hours:

  • 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Monday/Wednesday/Friday
  • 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday
  • Closed Saturday/Sunday

Access includes locker rooms, with day-use lockers available for securing belongings. Please bring your own lock. Locker rentals are also available for overnight storage. 

*Students must be enrolled in summer or fall courses for their University ID to remain active.

Monday Strength

  • Strength on the Turf uses resistance training to build muscular strength, improve endurance, and enhance overall functional fitness.

Tuesday Pilates

  • Pilates focuses on core strength, flexibility, and controlled movement to enhance posture, balance, and overall body awareness.

Wednesday Men's Movement and Mindset

  • FitSpace
  • Men’s Movement and Mindset is a supportive group that combines movement with guided conversation to support both physical and mental well-being in honor of Men's Mental Health Month.

Thursday Yoga

  • Studio 24
  • Yoga combines physical postures, breathwork, and mindfulness to enhance flexibility, strength, and relaxation.

Registration is required for the Men’s Movement and Mindset series; all other classes are drop-in only.

Indoor volleyball is unavailable during the summer. Outdoor sand courts are available at College-in-the-Woods, Hinman College and Hillside Community on the main campus.

Outdoor facilities

The following outdoor recreation spaces are open daily from dawn to dusk, except during inclement weather, special events or club practices: disc golf course, field 7, FitCourt, recreational turf field, outdoor track and tennis/pickleball courts.

Access

Students

All students enrolled for spring credit-bearing courses and paying mandatory fees are granted access to enter the building with their University ID card. Students can enjoy open recreation activities, including basketball, swimming, pickleball, badminton, volleyball and outdoor recreation spaces such as the FitCourt, tennis courts and the disc golf course, during designated drop-in schedule times. Access to FitSpace and group fitness classes requires a fitness membership.

Faculty and staff

Faculty and staff with active University ID cards are granted access to the building weekday mornings from open until 12:30 p.m. for open recreation activities only (afternoon or evening access requires a membership). Access to FitSpace and group fitness classes requires a fitness membership.

Affiliate and community members

Affiliate and community members must purchase an all-inclusive membership for access to the building for any activity.
