Our Mission
The Fleishman Career Center's Financial Literacy Program is designed to empower students with the clarity, confidence, and sense of community needed to navigate their financial journey with success. We believe financial literacy isn鈥檛 just about numbers鈥攊t鈥檚 about setting meaningful goals, making informed decisions, and feeling supported every step of the way. Our mission is to equip students with the skills and insights to achieve desired financial objectives with confidence and build a strong foundation for lifelong financial well-being.
Meet with an Educator
Schedule an in-person or virtual to connect with a Financial Literacy Educator. Choose from five appointment types, focusing on the topics that are most important to you. Appointments are available at the Fleishman Career Center (UU-133) or online via Zoom, Tuesday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. If you require a scheduling accommodation, please email your request to finwell@binghamton.edu.
- My Financial Snapshot: Gain insights into your personal financial values and habits. Discover your 鈥渕oney personality鈥, financial health, and get tailored advice for improvement.
- SMART Financial Goals: Set and achieve your financial goals using the SMART framework. Work with an educator to develop actionable steps for both short-term and long-term financial objectives.
- Budgeting Basics: Learn how to create and manage a personal budget that works for you. Get practical tips and tools to track income, expenses, and savings.
- Credit Crash Course: Explore the basics of building and maintaining good credit. Learn responsible credit card usage, credit score factors, and strategies for a strong credit history.
- Job Offers & Salary Negotiation: Understand the full scope of a job offer, including salary, benefits, and bonuses. Learn strategies to negotiate terms of employment that align with your career and financial goals.
Drop-In Appointments
During the semester, students are welcome to visit the Fleishman Career Center (UU-133) for a drop-in appointment. Drop-ins are held every Friday, when classes are in session, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Drop-ins are also available at the University Downtown Center (UDC-219) on the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. These 20-minute sessions are a great opportunity for students to receive a brief consultation, ask a quick question, or explore program resources.

Course instructors and student leaders interested in hosting a financial literacy
program are encouraged to submit a program request. A program educator will collaborate
with you to identify engaging and valuable content for your audience. For more information,
