Judaic Studies Department offers various types of internships: 

Fall Semester Paid Internships

The Department of Judaic Studies is offering three paid internships in Fall 2026. For details and to apply, see our postings on , or click the links below.

Preference is given to Judaic Studies majors and minors, and minors in Religious Studies.

  • Assist Rabbi in organizing Hebrew School
  • Manage schedule & logistics for classes
  • Assist teachers with curriculum development
  • Act as backup teacher for remedial or absence needs
  • Work 10 - 12 hours per week (some can be remote)

  • Work with volunteers to:
  • Improve social media presence
  • Improve digital interfaces
  • Assess opportunities for improved systems
  • Assist Office Manager with improved systems
  • Work 10-12 hours per week (some could be remote)

Interns may support a variety of projects, such as:

  • Assisting with the ongoing revision of the Shalvi/Hyman Encyclopedia of Jewish Women by updating entries, adding multimedia illustrations, or related research.
  • Working with JWA's extensive collections of oral history materials by transcribing, cataloguing, and preparing them for online exhibition.
  • Researching and writing entries for the "This Week in History" feature.
  • Contributing to JWA's robust social media presence.
  • Assisting in the marketing of JWA's events and programs.

Details:

  • Funding Amount: $5,000
  • Part time, approximately 15-30 hours a week
  • 8 to 10 weeks

While preference is given to majors and minors in the Judaic Studies Department, all are welcome to apply! You may register as a major or minor by meeting with Professor Dina Danon, Director of Undergraduate Studies. Office hours: Tuesday and Thursday 2:00-3:00pm and by appointment, Library Tower 1316.

As an HR Summer Intern, a typical day will include:

  •  Supporting recruitment projects, including job postings, candidate tracking, interview coordination, and onboarding preparation
  • Assisting with HRIS management by maintaining accurate employee records and supporting data audits and updates
  • Helping manage summer staff compliance, including employment documentation, background checks, and training tracking
  • Conducting research projects related to HR best practices, policies, and process improvements
  • Providing administrative and project-based support to the HR team as needed
  • Collaborating with team members across departments to support people operations during a high-impact summer season

Camp Ramah in the Rockies (Colorado)

The mission of Ramah in the Rockies is to nurture the character development of Jewish youth by providing them the opportunity to challenge themselves physically, intellectually, and spiritually. We are a co-ed residential outdoor adventure summer camp program located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado on a 360 acre ranch of pristine ponderosa forests and alpine meadows nestled in the Pike and San Isabel National Forests. Jewish Women's Archive - JWA (Boston, MA, or remote)

Theis a national organization dedicated to collecting and promoting the extraordinary stories of Jewish women and gender-expansive people. JWA explores the past as a framework for understanding the issues important to women today; inspires young people with remarkable role models; and uses Jewish women鈥檚 stories to excite people to see themselves as agents of change.

Today, JWA is the world鈥檚 largest collection of information on Jewish women. Each year, millions of people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds, from more than 230 countries, engage with and rely on JWA鈥檚 resources. JWA hosts ; trains the thought leaders of tomorrow through the ; sparks conversation with its , and social media presence; and is a leading voice in feminist and Jewish spheres. 

Summer interns are expected to work a minimum of 16 hours per week, and can be virtual, hybrid, or in-person (our office is located in Newton, MA).

Joint Distribution Committee Archives - JDC (NYC)

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is a global Jewish humanitarian assistance organization established in 1914. The JDC Archives is one of the world鈥檚 leading repositories for the study of modern Jewish history and of American humanitarian intervention.

The more than 3,000 audiovisual holdings in the JDC Archives range from early silent films depicting JDC's work with Jewish communities in the former Soviet Union to footage from the post-WWII period to more contemporary videos of JDC鈥檚 humanitarian work in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Israel, and Latin America.

Museum at Eldridge Street (NYC)

Museum at Eldridge Street Education & Public Programs Intern

This is an onsite internship ideal for individuals interested in the museum field, childhood education, family learning, history, Jewish studies, art history, anthropology, social history, historic preservation, and architecture. Interns will have the opportunity to work in a variety of departments, including public programs, education, visitor experience, exhibitions, and more. 

The is a non-sectarian Museum housed in the Eldridge Street Synagogue, a magnificent National Historic Landmark built in 1887. Exhibitions, tours, cultural events, and educational programs tell the story of Jewish immigrant life at the turn of the last century, explore architecture and historic preservation, inspire reflection on cultural continuity, and foster inter-group collaboration and exchange.

The Museum is interested in a full-time, reliable intern who is a strong writer, can help research content, and is great at talking to people in a hospitality/customer service capacity. We appreciate interns who are flexible and open to taking on responsibilities that may involve them working closely with members of each department at the Museum. Interns should plan to work in person.

Ramah Day Camp in Nyack

Ramah Day Camp in Nyack is seeking a motivated and organized Human Resources Summer Intern to support the people operations that make our vibrant summer community possible. Serving more than 850 campers and over 400 staff each summer, Ramah Nyack is one of the largest Jewish day camps in North America and a leader in experiential Jewish education.

As an HR Summer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and staff experience of a large seasonal workforce. Working closely with the camp leadership team, you will help ensure that our staff are supported, organized, and prepared to create meaningful summer experiences for campers.

This internship offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic nonprofit environment while learning how human resources functions within a mission-driven organization.

  • 20鈥30 hours/week - Flexible schedule (Monday 鈥 Friday)
  • 9-weeks (mid June - mid August)
  • Ramah Day Camp is located in Nyack, NY

Community Internships - for Credit

2 or 4 Credit Internships are available with multiple community organizations.
Internships carry the "O" Gen Ed.
4 Credit Internship requires approximately 6 hours on-site with 6 hours additional work
2 Credit Internship requires approximately 3 hours on-site, 3 hours additional work.

Academic requirements might include:

  • Reading list
  • Weekly journal
  • Term paper or project
  • Students will meet as a group every two weeks to present on their not-for-profit, issue facing the organization and specific project goals and details.

PJ Library Internship

Name of organization: The Jewish Federation of Greater 91社区

Details of project: The Jewish Federation of 91社区 offers a program called the PJ Library to children from 6 months to 8 years of age. The program sends a book of Jewish content each month to the home of those children who have enrolled. The intern will create and run two to three creative events/programs for the Spring semester. As part of planning these programs, the intern will contact all the people who are involved in PJ Library. Programs can be held at the JCC or any of the local synagogue.
