Recommended New Hire Start Dates

In order to allow for the best new hire experience the Research Foundation Office of Human Resources (RF HR) highly recommends that you start your new employees on the start dates outlined below (green boxes).  Starting your employees on these designed dates will allow RFHR the necessary time to engage with your new hire and the multitude of outside offices required to establish an employee record (ie: ITS, SUNY Secure, Parking Services, etc).  Furthermore, all hiring managers should submit their electronic appointment form over to RFHR two weeks before the new employees intended start date. This will allow RFHR to send your new employee their New Hire Welcome Packet and allow ample time to complete all subsequent new hire steps (up to and including an in-person meeting to complete a Form I9).  Any new hire whose electronic appointment form has not been received by RFHR in accordance with our payroll deadlines may experience a delay in their pay. Furthermore, all new hires must complete all required new hire steps before our payroll deadlines to ensure their new hire records are established and that they are paid promptly.
