The Citizenship, Rights and Cultural Belonging Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence (TAE) welcomes scholars who are exploring the cultural, ethnic, gendered, sexual, evolutionary and transnational facets of citizenship, rights and belonging.
The Citizenship, Rights and Cultural Belonging TAE is not accepting seed grant applications for the current round (2024). We recommend you consider ICG and other TAE seed grant applications for your projects.
Research Themes
Movement, Place and Conflict
This research theme looks at questions provoked by the voluntary and involuntary movement of people across state borders and within state borders.
Human Rights
This research theme recognizes that human rights language is powerful and compelling, yet fluid and volatile, and contains meanings that might be universal or can be understood only in their specific contexts, times and places.
Citizenship and Belonging
This research theme seeks new understandings of citizenship (both formal and substantive) and belonging in and across different historical and geographical settings.
