Abstract:Academic-public partnerships can connect research, policy, and practice to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. Dr. Neighbors will discuss how collaborations between the NYU Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab and New York State agencies have advanced Medicaid and addiction health services research. Drawing on large-scale administrative and Medicaid data, mixed methods, and implementation science, he will describe HEAL's research portfolio and its contributions to healthcare system improvement. Examples from substance use disorder treatment, quality improvement, quality measurement, and health policy evaluation will show how these partnerships generate actionable evidence, support system reform, and improve care for vulnerable populations.
Bio:Dr. Charles J. Neighbors is Director of the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL) and Associate Professor in the Departments of Population Health and Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. His research examines healthcare delivery, substance use disorder treatment, and health policy. He collaborates with New York State agencies, including the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, to evaluate healthcare programs and inform policy and practice. His work uses administrative datasets, mixed methods, and quasi-experimental approaches to study healthcare quality, access, and outcomes.

During their first year, Associates rotate through different disciplines throughout Port Authority’s Engineering Department which can include: Design (Architecture, Landscape Architecture; Civil/Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural/Geotechnical, and Traffic); Construction Management; Materials; Operations; Project Delivery; Enterprise Asset Management; and Quality Assurance.Associates also rotate through different Port Authority facilities like: Bus Terminal; George Washington Bridge; Holland Tunnel; JFK Airport; LaGuardia Airport; Lincoln Tunnel; Newark Airport; PATH; World Trade Center; and more.Then, in their second year, Associates focus on the discipline they accepted an offer for.Associates are full-time, permanent employees with a yearly salary and benefits. After successful completion of the program, Associates remain permanent employees at Port Authority. As of 2026, there are close to 200 program alumni still working at the agency.Eligibility:

Description:
During their first year, Associates rotate through different disciplines throughout Port Authority’s Engineering Department which can include: Design (Architecture, Landscape Architecture; Civil/Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural/Geotechnical, and Traffic); Construction Management; Materials; Operations; Project Delivery; Enterprise Asset Management; and Quality Assurance.Associates also rotate through different Port Authority facilities like: Bus Terminal; George Washington Bridge; Holland Tunnel; JFK Airport; LaGuardia Airport; Lincoln Tunnel; Newark Airport; PATH; World Trade Center; and more.Then, in their second year, Associates focus on the discipline they accepted an offer for.Associates are full-time, permanent employees with a yearly salary and benefits. After successful completion of the program, Associates remain permanent employees at Port Authority. As of 2026, there are close to 200 program alumni still working at the agency.Eligibility:
The 2027 program is open tostudentswho arereceiving abachelor’s ormaster’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline between September 2026 and May 2027.This program starts in June 2027.Unfortunately, Port Authority cannot provide sponsorship and cannot accept Optional Practical Training (OPT) – including the STEM extension – for this position.Info Sessions:
