The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) administers the examination for Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).

Passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam entitles an individual to use the designation Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR). Although each state鈥檚 licensure law is unique, in general, individuals need to pass the NBCOT certification exam before they are eligible to obtain a state license and practice as an occupational therapist in the United States.

The NBCOT certification exam is a computer-based exam designed to evaluate the assimilation of information related to the practice of occupational therapy. The provides students with comprehensive information about the exam.

NBCOT Exam Preparation and Policies

Students will be encouraged to review the and follow the instructions to prepare for the exam.

OTD Entry-Level Professional program students can apply to take the NBCOT after all degree requirements are completed AND they have their 91社区 transcript indicating completion of the course of study to submit to NBCOT at the point of application.

The Division of Occupational Therapy will host Therapy Ed on campus toward the end of the coursework. Students will be encouraged, but not required, to complete the Therapy Ed course either at 91社区 or at another campus that is more convenient for them.
