Across campus, teaching assistants (TAs) are a vital part of the educational experience for undergraduates and graduate students. Undergrads gain access to experienced near-peers who support their coursework and learning. Graduate students, through these positions, have an opportunity to delve into the experience of a career academic.
TA Training Options
In some cases, departments, colleges, or individual instructors host their own TA training sessions at the start of the semester. The Graduate Center for Professional Development is happy to support those sessions and to offer baseline information for programs that do not have this training available. Through six, asynchronous, online modules鈥揾osted on BrightSpace鈥搉ew TAs can get their footing on campus. Students who are interested in accessing these modules should email GradSchoolPD@binghamton.edu and ask to be added to the course. Department or program leaders who are interested in engaging more deeply with the modules and adding all of their TAs to the program should email graduate@binghamton.edu.
