We assist faculty across all disciplines in identifying appropriate funding opportunities, developing strong proposals, and navigating post-award requirements.

  • Harpur College Dean's Teaching Release Award

    The Dean's Teaching Release Award is offered to pre-tenure faculty members in Harpur College to help promote their prospects for tenure and promotion at 91ÉçÇø. Awardees are exempted from major teaching obligations but retain full faculty status, salary, and rights, thereby allowing them to concentrate on a significant scholarly or creative project.

    Eligible pre-tenure faculty must work with their department chair to ensure that these course reductions support their scholarly development as well as accommodate their department's curriculum.   • Harpur College Faculty Research and Subvention Fund Program

    Harpur College Faculty Research and Subvention Fund Program supports Harpur faculty-led research projects, creative endeavors, and scholarly activities. Proposals will be reviewed on the basis of their potential to establish new projects and to contribute to faculty career advancement.

    This program also includes support for "subvention" proposals.

  • Visiting Speaker Fund

    The Visiting Speaker Fund helps Harpur departments and programs bring in outside speakers who will offer scholarly, artistic, or intellectual merit to the University community. Any faculty member may submit a request signed by their department chair or program director.

    This award is intended to support on-campus and department-hosted regional/national conferences. The award can provide a portion of the costs necessary to host a conference or workshop.

  • Harpur College Faculty Development Endowment

    The goal of this internal grants program is to promote the scholarly, creative, and artistic activities of Harpur faculty. Priority is given to proposals for new projects or for projects that represent a new direction within an existing project. Priority is also given to projects that are likely to lead to external foundation or government funding.

    Harpur College Dean’s Office is closely monitoring updates from federal agency partners regarding policy changes and evaluating their potential impact on federally sponsored projects during this period of transition. Important updates for the research community will be shared here as they become available.

    Proposals & Awards

    Before incorporating new federal directives or changing policy into your proposals or current awards please consult your assigned Grant and Contract Administrator in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to ensure the proper course of action. 

    Federal sponsor proposal review timelines may be extended due to pauses on federal funding. It is recommended to reconfirm deadlines and check for any changes to the proposal requirements or guidelines. Our understanding is that the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is continuing to submit to federal agency submission systems as they are available.

    Work on existing awards may require changes to comply with recent executive orders. Please contact the Office of Grants Management with specific questions.

Harpur College Cluster Hires

  • Cluster Hires for Harpur College

    Harpur College has launched three cluster hires focused on key thematic and programmatic areas the college aims to strengthen. Each cluster brings together a cohort of new faculty who will help build lasting networks of scholarly collaboration, mentorship and program development, while connecting with existing interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary initiatives. This approach fosters a strong sense of community, encourages collaboration across departments, and supports long-term faculty retention. While united by shared interests, each position is housed in a specific department, with joint appointments considered when appropriate.
