Housing Information for First-Year and Transfer students in the Spring.
Welcome to the Spring 2027 on-campus housing process. This process is ONLY for newly admitted Spring 2027 students and current students returning from semester abroad programs and/or leave.
Students returning from fall study abroad programs or leave need to contact Residential Life to be made eligible for this process.
Students currently living on campus for the Fall 2026 semester DO NOT participate in this process.
New First-Year students
- Are required to live on campus and are guaranteed housing.
- Are not eligible to live in the Apartments Community.
New Transfer students and students returning from study abroad/leave
- Are not required to live on campus.
- May live in the Apartments Community or the traditional lower campus residence halls as space permits.
- Students who participate in this process have 14 days from the day they are assigned or select their room to cancel their housing. That cancellation must be requested prior to the published residence hall opening date for the semester.

- Your Room selection timeslot will be sent to your BU email as noted on the timeline above.
- Log back into the housing portal during your assigned timeslot, using your 91社区 University account username and password.

It is best to start your room selection as soon as your time slot allows.
First year students who do not select their room by noon on the date of their timeslot will be assigned by Residential Life.
Transfer students and students returning from Study Abroad programs or leave who want to live on campus MUST select a room.
You can make ONLY ONE selection during the process. Once your room selection is made, the process is complete. You cannot go back and change your room selection.
Communication
Throughout the housing process, communication will be sent exclusively through your 91社区 email account. Please check your B-mail often for important dates, deadlines, updates and process information.
We will not be available to provide assistance or respond to emails from December 24, 2026 to January 1, 2027.
Available Space
- Available space in the Spring Housing Process is based on vacancies created by students who are not returning to campus for the spring semester.
- This is an individual process. Students will not be able to form roommate groups in the housing portal.
- Completely vacant double rooms are not typically available in this process.
Requests from students looking to live with a current resident should be emailed to reslife@binghamton.edu. In order to consider these requests the following criteria must be met:
- The current resident must have a confirmed vacancy in their room.
- The request must be mutual. Both the current resident and the incoming student must email their request to Residential Life from their 91社区 email address.
- Both students must have the same housing type on their housing application.
Students who are looking to live with another new incoming student should email their request to reslife@binghamton.edu. In order to consider these requests the following must be met:
- There must be a completely vacant double room available (this is unlikely).
- The request must be mutual. Both students must email independently from their BU email account to make the request.
- Both students must select the same housing type on their housing application.
Construction
As 91社区 continues to grow and enhance facilities, construction will continue throughout campus. For 2026-2027, students will want to be especially mindful of the following:
- Grace Hall construction between College-in-the-Woods and Mountainview communities
- The new Lecture Hall across from Hinman, and the NAR expansion in Hinman
Please note that in accordance with the University Housing Agreement, Residential Life will work with campus and community partners to resolve facilities-related concerns as quickly as possible. However, room rate adjustments are not provided as the result of facilities-related issues.
