Applying to the Management PhD Program

Requirements for Admission
- A master's degree from an accredited institution, completed prior to enrollment. Business or a related field is preferred; applicants holding master's degrees in other fields are also encouraged to apply.
- One official transcript of all prior college work. Typically, applicants should have a GPA of at least 3.2 in undergraduate work and 3.5 in graduate work. The average GPA for those admitted to the program is 3.71.
- Three letters of recommendation from people acquainted with you.
- A resume detailing your educational and work experience.
- A personal statement describing your career goals.
- Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT, preferred) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
- International applicants - Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score is required unless you are eligible for a waiver. To see the waiver eligibility requirements, please review our International Student Requirements page.
Average Exam Scores For Applicants
GMAT (strongly preferred): Applicants should score in the 80th percentile or above.
GRE: Applicants typically need to score in the 80th percentile or above in all sections of the exam. While the GRE is accepted, the GMAT is strongly preferred.
TOEFL: Applicants should have a minimum score of 5 (TOEFL IBT 26) 100 (IBT), 600 (paper), 250 (CBT), 7.5 (IELTS).
Assistantships
All students admitted into the PhD program will be offered a research or teaching assistantship that includes a full tuition scholarship and a stipend. The assistantships will be renewed each year, for a maximum of four years, conditional on satisfactory performance, as determined by a member of the PhD program faculty.
