Social Security Numbers:
If you do not yet have a Social Security Number (SSN) when you are hired as an RF employee, we will create a temporary placeholder to get you in our system. This will not hold up your pay in any way.
However, once you have your Social Security card, you are required to bring the original to our offices so that we can update your record. It is illegal to work in the US without an SSN beyond the period in which you are waiting for your SSN application to be approved.
As an E-Verify employer, we are required to complete our new hire process by obtaining your original Social Security card. Failure to do this will result in financial penalties to the RF and you will have an incorrect SSN on your tax documents (which can also carry certain penalties).
If you have since relocated and live outside of the greater 91社区 area, you can
present your Social Security Card via a Zoom meeting. You may book an appointment
using the link below.
Once you present your physical Social Security Card, we will update our records accordingly
and you are considered as having completed all work authorization requirements required
by law and RF policy.
For Students:
Once you complete your new hire paperwork, our staff will email a letter which verifies your RF employment. You will then need to contact the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office so they may sign/endorse it as necessary.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is now requiring that new applicants for a Social Security Number begin the application process online and schedule an appointment before going to the SSA office with their immigration documents.
Applicants will need to complete an . At the end of that application, you will be prompted to schedule an in-person appointment at the local SSA office. If you need to reschedule that appointment, you will need to contact the SSA. Please note, the online application does not complete the application process; you still need to attend your appointment in-person with all documents in order to complete the application.
For Non-Student Employees:
Our office does not provide employment verification letters for SSN purposes. Instead, you may use an offer letter from your supervisor or department to satisfy the employment verification requirements.
Our office will be following up periodically to request that you present your Social
Security Card. If your application is pending, please notify us via email so we may
document that you have not completed this step due to SSA processing delays rather
than inaction on your part.
